From Hanoi to Saigon on 15 Day Vietnam Holidays

The Grand Vietnam tour takes you on an epic journey from North to South, through all the magnificent marvels along Vietnam’s curvaceous coastline.

Hanoi

We start off in the capital city of Hanoi which is a perfect blend of east and west. From the winding streets of the Old Quarter, to the monuments to Ho Chi Minh; the Asia of old is very much alive in this bustling metropolis. We take you outside the confines of the city to the enclave of Mai Chau, a scenic area that is reminiscent of the laid back communal lifestyle of the 1950’s, complete with houses on stilts and quaint villages.

Halong Bay

The giant boulders rising out of the waters of Halong Bay, are an image that is iconic to Vietnam. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is lauded as an area of tremendous geological beauty and you will get to see exactly why, on a boat ride through the bay. We also visit Tam Coc which is popularly known as Halong Bay on land, because of the limestone karsts that rise majestically out of the paddy fields, creating a surreal landscape.

Central Vietnam: Hue

We then head to the gates of the Imperial City; Hue. This ancient capital is a city of emperors and warlords complete with high walls, royal tombs, citadels and landscaped gardens. We then take the Hai Van Pass cutting through the mountains, with the meandering road circling high peaks and lush scenery. We also stop to marvel at the Marble Mountains right outside Danang.

Central Vietnam: Hoi An

The wonderful drive eventually leaves us off at the charming town of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its cobblestone streets are lined with architectural masterpieces that bare Chinese and Japanese influences. Visiting the assembly houses, churches and iconic bridges in the town will give you some insight into the civilizations that made this city great. A little away from Hoi An you will find the historic ruins at My Son. The religious ruins date back to the 4th century Cham dynasty and are a deeply spiritual site.

Central Vietnam: Nha Trang

Vietnam’s beaches might just beaches might just be one of its best kept secrets and the beach town of Nha Trang is your best bet for a good time by the sun, sand and sea. From fun in the sun it’s then off to the cool crisp mountain air of Dalat, the country’s premier highlands resort destination.

Ho Chi Minh City . . . Saigon

We end our journey down South in Ho Chi Minh City, a bastion of the south and a great place to learn about the country’s tumultuous past before we visit one of the most iconic remnants of the Vietnam War, the tunnels of Cu Chi. No trip to the south is complete without a chance to visit the regions’ lifeline and rice bowl; the mighty Mekong River. The trip to My Tho allows you to experience this aspect of Vietnamese life and to visit the rice fields that feed a nation.

This trip is truly an adventure right into the heart of the Vietnamese experience.
